What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive helps producers of electrical and electronic goods to increase recycling and therefore reduce the amount of electrical goods destined for landfill.
Why should you recycle electrical goods?
One of the main reasons why electrical and electronic goods should be recycled is to reduce landfill. Did you know:-
� Waste electrical goods, from hairdryers to washing machines, make up the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.
� 75% of electrical and electronic waste ends up in landfill.
� 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste was disposed during 2007, the equivalent of 150,000 double decker buses.
� This waste is currently increasing by 5% each year.
